Teaching the Bible in Challenging Times
A new course to help and encourage people who want to teach the Bible in a way that's relevant to today's world and engaged with contemporary culture.
'There are very few books or courses today which I feel could benefit everyone involved in teaching in our churches, from Sunday school teacher through to pulpit proclaimer, but I think this DVD would!' - Trevor Lewis, writing in 'Evangelicals Now.' Read the full review
Who is it for?
It's for you if you're a lay preacher, Junior Church leader, cell group leader or Christian Union leader - or if you're a busy pastor who feels the need for a 'cultural refresher.'
Why do you need it?
Every Sunday, a medium sized town full of people go out of the doors of a church, never to come back. Across the western world, more than fifty thousand people leave the Church every week. The Church in Britain could die out by 2016 if present trends continue.
But where we teach the Bible relevantly, the Church grows. One of our greatest needs is for people who can teach the Bible in a way that engages with today's world.
Outline
The course has four one-hour sessions, covering:
- Understanding the times
- Understanding the message
- Understanding the task
- Understanding the skills
Each session includes two fifteen-minute video programmes (on the DVD) and two practical exercises (in the Study Guide) suitable for groups or individuals. There's also a bonus video on planning the teaching programme.
