'Facing the Challenge' at the FIEC Conference

Focus Radio's Director, David Couchman, presented 'Facing the Challenge' over three sessions at the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches Conference in Pwllheli, North Wales, 22-26th April 2003. Here are some of the things participants said in their evaluations:

I had found myself drifting in my own opinions, in that I was looking at the claims of Christianity - which I have fully embraced - and was struggling to accept this absolute truth. Somehow, the world's idea that there were many ways to God was starting to make me unsure about my own faith. I feel refreshed that there is only one truth and that I am to be bold in my beliefs. Thank you for that

Very very relevant. Excellent

I found it quite disturbing

...made me think more about how I witness to people

Some Christians don't realise what is happening around them or even in their own thought life and attitudes

Timely and useful in these changing times - broad-ranging and fairly comprehensive - well researched and innovative. Course should be packaged well and disseminated

Useful strategies for understanding the differences in our society and how we can approach and interact with non-Christians

The advice about using questions to start meaningful conversations with people was very helpful. The seminars provided a lot of useful information that I hadn't thought of before

Great help re. being called bigoted and arrogant, and turning it around by asking questions and not reinforcing the bigoted view by responding too much

As a university student I have many conversations with my friends about Christianity. I sometimes feel as if I go round in circles with them and their questions, but after doing these sessions I feel like I have fresh ideas of how to talk to them and make sure I ask them questions. It was also helpful about thinking about contact points

I have been helped to understand non-Christians a lot better through this course. It has changed the way I view people and made me more tolerant. I feel more relaxed about sharing God with others and look out for opportunities to talk to people about spiritual matters
